What is different about Empire’s program vs. other traditional programs?
Team Style Coaching: This new approach is often done with competitive athletes. Rather than having the expertise of only one coach, we maximize our coaches strengths by allowing them to specialize. This also exposes our students to a range of different coaching styles and techniques, in addition to building a supportive atmosphere among all groups.
Uniforms: Every level has a designated uniform. Students will wear that uniform to every class. We want all of our students to feel that they are a part of something special. Every student, from their very first day of class, is part of the Empire Team. As they progress through the levels, they will receive new uniforms indicating their level, much like karate belts.
Promotion through levels: As opposed to a traditional program, which relies on occasional skill testing, at Empire our athletes advance on a quarterly schedule. At the end of every quarter there will be an exhibition for all of our students to showcase what they have learned. At the conclusion of the exhibition there will be a graduation ceremony where they will receive their new uniform. While we offer a recreational program as well as a competitive program, the advancement onto the competitive team is predetermined in this system

The benefits of our program:
When signing up for most sports, children receive uniforms and play in games shortly after they begin practices. Gymnastics is a very difficult sport that takes a long time to master. Most clubs struggle to maintain the enthusiasm of their students long enough to get them to the competitive level. Our program has addressed those difficulties and offers a competitive experience on each child’s level. USA Gymnastics (our governing body) has acknowledged this difficulty within our sport and in an effort to broaden the appeal to it’s participants, they will be beginning Level 1 competitions in 2013. This is great news because we are already ahead of the curve. Our program has been based off of the USAG dictated levels for several years. With our quarterly advancement program, all of our students will be eligible for competition within a few months.

How does this benefit you as a parent?
Flexibility in schedule: By reducing the number of types of classes, we offer a more streamlined course of advancement. This enables us to offer our classes more frequently, which helps accommodate busy family schedules.
Advancement Options: We recognize that competitive gymnastics may not be the choice for each gymnast. Our program offers a recreational route which will still teach the basics of gymnastics as well as preparing a child for any athletic endeavor through development of coordination, motor skills, and body awareness. For those that are interested in competitive gymnastics, our program will enable families to be introduced to the competitive side of the sport without the high costs and long hours which are sometimes associated with it.
Exhibitions: Many parents are unable to attend the regular class time for their child. We know that our students love to show their parents what they have learned in class, just as much as the parents love to watch them. By offering regular exhibitions and graduation ceremonies, busy parents will have the opportunity to observe their children display new talents. During these exhibitions, parents will be able to take pictures and speak with the coaches.
